Cast resin composite with bronze powder
8 x 4.5 inches
$500 via Art Production Fund
I’m headed to NYC, so how fitting that I get this beauty in my inbox from the Art Production Fund! I first learned about this organization about 8 years ago when I read a snippet in Vanity Fair about their artist commissioned beach towels. I feel very fortunate to have snapped up one of the Alex Katz towels before they sold out! The Art Production Fund is an org that funds innovative public art projects in New York City and beyond. Proceeds from the sales of their multiples like the towels, or these sculptures go towards future projects, so what’s not to love?
This piece riffs off of a larger installation Hanna Liden executed with them in NYC – a series of giant bagel ‘totems’ scattered around the city. This smaller version is a bit more muted and I enjoy the darker palette which gives the stack of bagels a heft and a more serious presence than it’s oversized counterpart. Now I’m hungry for pumpernickel and lox!
